It looked like they just cut their effects budget by a lot. The green screen work was terrible and super apparent. The motorcycles would be obviously riding in a studio instead of on sand (just look at them not affected by any bumps).
A bunch of the CGI was just super obvious and in some places poorly done.
And then the plot had the random love interest and most of the dialogue was bad.
And worst of all
Tap for spoilerThey skipped the final battle completely! What a cop out!!!
Then at the end when they show scenes from the last movie, it was just so obvious how bad the effects were in comparison!
So like, if sand can be used as the first “ingredient” of a CPU, is it possible to use other variants of sand? Or is there only a very SPECIFIC kind of sand used for CPU creation?...
You could probably use most sands or rocks, it’s just cheaper to start with more silicon dioxide since the purification processes will result in higher yields.
Watched it over the weekend and was rather underwhelmed. It felt “cheap” compared to Fury Road. The CGI was quite terrible in comparison, especially when they showed some scenes from the last movie during credits. It’s just so obvious they paid less detail to the effects and it seemed like a significant decrease in their use of practical effects. Add to that some of the effects were just plain bad. AND worse of all
Tap for spoilerThey skipped the final fight scene completely!
Also there was just too much talking. Fury Road was great because the world building was done without extra dialog. Furiosa just felt like any other Hollywood film with nothing special at all.

I mean maybe that just means you were bad at naming which is the hardest part! When I’m sober I spend a lot of thought on naming things, and when it gets skipped over while drunk I’m just like wtf did I write?

I’m not certain near infinite energy will solve scarcity. Humans will simply use up all the available energy anyways until we eventually run out of whatever previously “infinite “ resource we’re using. We’re very good at this type of optimization.
More than we can consume right now. We used to think this about oil as well. Humans will seek to reach this limit as quickly as possible. It will certainly create new technologies. However I don’t think it will solve scarcity problems for everyone since many of those issues are not resources or technology but politics. We choose to deprive certain humans of their basic needs.
Of course, you can pay money for your AI to “succeed” vs the other AI. Highest bidder gets the choice. You just need to advertise services to men and women as separate companies.
Not sure about scientifically, but anecdotally as we’re currently in Asia on vacation, even the cheap 7-11 sunscreen works better than anything in the US: It feels lighter and it seems you need a lot less to be effective.
We went on a two hour hike and thought we’d just sweat away all the sunscreen but we were fine afterwards. The US sunscreen would’ve had to be reapplied to be as effective.
I mean that’s the whole point of flirting. You establish a rapport and read the social cues to see if there’s reciprocation. Smiles, eye contact, etc. The problem of course, is misreading.
I mean there’s a large category of conversation that can lead to further flirtation without being considered initial flirtation. That’s the whole point, escalating socially acceptable requests.
Yes I’m well aware of the quote by the buddy of the mother of the namesake of one of the most expensive violins ever sold. But my point is this is the type of short sighted statement made by engineers and the world has moved to be more user centric.
What movies have you watched recently?
I recently saw Rang Song (2021), The Worst Person in the World (2021), and Donnie Darko
