Ulysses S. Grant turned out to be a pretty good field commander and U.S. Army general but there were, shall we say, several question marks regarding his presidential administration a few years after the U.S. Civil War. I believe, though, he wasn’t wrong here.
There’s a cool little Great Lakes shipping museum nearby In Marquette’s old water works building; I have the hoodie to prove it. Marquette Harbor Lighthouse, Michigan. Photo by Lerro Photography. #LighthousesOfMastodon #GreatLakes #LakeSuperior
“Never be afraid to raise your voice for honesty and truth and compassion against injustice and lying and greed. If people all over the world...would do this, it would change the earth.” - excerpt from a speech by American novelist William Faulkner at his daughter Jill’s 1951 high school graduation
“Each of us tends to think we see things as they are, and that we are objective. But this is not the case. We see the world, not as it is, but as we are—or, as we are conditioned to see it. Everyone looks through the eyes of their prejudices and preconceived notions. Hence, it is the most difficult thing in the world to broaden someone's beliefs so that they will realize a greater truth than the ones they have clung to for so long." - Stephen R. Covey #DeepThoughts
