I don't use them, but just for fun, I decided to try #tweesecake and #twblue on #pleroma. They both fail differently. First off, both require that you log out or authorization won't work. But if you log out then log in again while authorizing, they will. But at that point, #twblue will just crash. The error in the log says it's trying to do something with Pleroma that it doesn't implement. Tweesecake, on the other hand, pretends to work. It loads the messages and mentions buffers just fine. Then it adds exactly 160 items to the home buffer, all of them blank. If you leave it open, new items will stream into the home buffer. They, also, will be blank. I didn't expect either client to work; I just find the wildly differing failures amusing.
Back to using #Semaphore as my #Mastodon client on #Windows. There's a lot I like about #Tweesecake, but I missed autocomplete, and Tweesecake has a habit of stopping responding and seeming to slow everything else down after a while of being open. Not sure if it's my crappy #Windows10 laptop or something else. There are things I like about both clients, but Semaphore seems to be the only #blind#accessible one that works well in my situation for now. Hoping to eventually get a better computer, but can't afford it right now. #tech#technology
WOW, just checked out the #Tweesecake App on my Surface pro 8. How could I live without that one until now? Now I just need a very fast way of using Mastodon on my #Android. Tusky is unreliable when boosting. The others I tested were almost non-usable with #Screenreaders and split Toots up into their individual elements. That makes Navigating Toots really annoyingly slow. Suggestions and Boosts welcome! Thanks #Blind
@gocu54 Would you like your pack on soundpack central? It's a repository that hosts soundpacks for #Tweesecake, and other various applications for the blind.
Seems like neither #Tweesecake or #TWBlue has the ability to automatically expand content warnings. Is that correct? Are there any accessible windows clients that have this option?
Morning Mastodoners. Managed to get #Tweesecake running on my elderly Dell, so at least I know how to do it. Now just need to figure out why the shiny new Acer's being uncooperative. That's a problem for later. Now off to work. And can I just say, I highly recommend throwing yourself into an epic Tamora Pierce re-read when the rest of the world is falling apart.
#TweeseCake tip: As in Mastodon there are lots of instances, there can be lots of users named identically. And if you prefer screen names (logins) to display names as I do, you can be easily discombobulated by the number of users named John, Admin, Me, or, for that matter, Podcast. TweeseCake allows you to assign custom nicknames to users. If you use GUI, press Alt+N while standing on a post; if you use the invisible interface (as I do all the time), press Ctrl+Windows+Alt+N instead.
Quote from the #TweeseCake changelog: "Mastodon: Add support for languages in posts." It's perfect timing for this one as I may post in english and french. I'll definitely give it a go.
My first serious feature for #TweeseCake landed in the master branch today. There are places for improvement, but still it's a step forward, I'm far more familiar with the code and with Mastodon protocol now. #Development@app
I love #TweeseCake, but decided to use Mastodon on the web as my #Mastodon client, and #IceCubes on my phone, simply, because these two things offer the option of changing the language of my posts, which is very useful I think, using Mastodon on the web is not a pain at all, I've never seen such an accessible social network before. I will still keep Tweesecake on my PC though. #Accessibility
This seems like a vaguely ridiculous question to be asking, but it is possible to delete a session from #TweeseCake via the on-screen or invisible UI? CC @app
Lovely people, I'd like to help @baxaphobia who is new to the fediverse with a technical issue.
Where does one find the button to accept a follow request on either #tweesecake or #mona?
Since I'm using a browser, I have no idea, but I'm sure someone knows.
Boosts welcome. #askfedi
