I think it's still going to be a while until it is relevant for our server(s) in particular, but if the new Meta project wanted to add us to their federation whitelist or just simply would open up its federation, would you as a user accept this to happen, assuming they moderate properly and the instance won't die due to load mid-term? #tchncs :tchncs:
:tchncs: :mastodon: For the first time, this instance now has a co-admin.
In case of an emergency, @thomas will now be able to access this instance from under the hood – if something prevents me from responding in time.
Thank you, Thomas! #tchncs
The changelog is long, one thing to look out for is the new (currently rebuilding) full-text search – as you might want to opt-in under /settings/privacy.
Another update to the #tchncs#opentalk instance: recordings seem to work now! 📼
Please mind that this is an early version of the OpenTalk recorder and it is possible that some edge cases make it unhappy. However i did some realistic tests and they have worked nicely. :)
The #tchncs :tchncs: #Mobilizon instance has been updated to v4.0.0+4.0.1+4.0.2 (sorry, i am now subscribed to the releasefeed and wont miss releases again).
Recently, I often read from people who are happy with swift moderation actions on #tchncs :tchncs: but give only me credit for that. Please know that – luckily – I am not alone!
write.tchncs.de has been restored and is now using the "latest" (non-release) docker image. part of the reason choosing docker is me refusing to install (or rather downgrade to) an outdated dependency and i failed to compile the quite old source by hand – but now i can at least look the spamaccounts up in the admin panel in order to delete them and dont have to click through pages... yay.
maybe time for sunsetting tho as this project is mostly abandoned (again!) it seems. #plume#tchncs
As I as well as your fellow moderators have to deal with enough spam from the outside already, I have decided to make registrations "on request" where possible and otherwise disabled them alltogether for most #tchncs :tchncs: hosted apps.
The latest Firefish update is heavy on the database. I try to support it by temporarily stopping the service until the migration ran through – as migrations failed on the initial attempt. #tchncs :tchncs:
Whoops sorry about that interruption, there was an additional setting required which i did not expect.
I have adjusted the redis setup for this instance, which – fingers crossed – means that your timeline won't fall back to an old (or empty) state anymore as soon as redis was restarted. The setup is now one persistent and one "cache" redis as recommended by the docs. There must have been a misunderstanding in the past. Sorry about that. #tchncs :tchncs:
Was meint ihr #tchncs?
somehow i didnt feel like deleting the #tchncs ntfy service but also kinda forgot to properly announce (and list) it i guess? i don't use it for that many things but i also kinda like having it around... .
