Wow reading The Cyberiad (1974) by #stanislawlem and it has a whole story about a poetry writing machine that has to be trained on the entire universe. Strong #ChatGPT vibes here.
"Have it compose a poem—a poem about a haircut! But lofty, noble, tragic, timeless, full of love, treachery, retribution, quiet heroism in the face of certain doom! Six lines, cleverly rhymed, and every word beginning with the letter ‘s’ “
The Invincible (Nov. 6): Art by Wojciech Ostrycharz
"The Invincible is a first-person game based on the motifs of The Invincible - an iconic novel of the world-known, hard science-fiction author and Polish futurologist Stanisław Lem." #scifi#game#StanislawLem#mars
I can never praise the genius of Stanislaw Lem enough.
In this vision of the future the powers that be use mind-controlling drugs (not "tech") to hide the fact that there is no real technological progress and that the world is dying. @bookstodon#stanislawlem#sciencefiction#dystopia
The book I most want to read may never be translated into English. Victoria Amelia’s “Dom's Dream Kingdom” is about a Soviet colonel living in Polish sci-fi writer Stanislaw Lem’s apartment in Lviv, #Ukraine.
Her short story here is a peek through a crack in the doorway:
🇬🇧
The signal from another galaxy received by scientists in a stream of neutrino particles is a seed for Lem's considerations on humans and their place in the universe. But who sent it and why?
The book is full of metaphors, hidden meanings, and comparisons, such as the English title itself, referring to a well-known British record label. Following this musical path, we can also find an allegory of life as a groove on a vinyl record, from which it is not easy to escape, and sometimes all we can do is wait for the needle to finish its run. Hence the graphic design on the back cover.
🇵🇱
