FYI - I worked on 2 different #RealityTV shows in #Canada & after those lived work experiences - told everyone I could - don't agree to go on these shows. It's almost all scripted, not reality. Crews are forced to put pressure on voluntary participants - who rarely know WTF they're signing up for & producers exploit naivety. Don't chase easy fame/easy money - they both come at high personal costs. Don't agree to be traumatized on TV, for money. You'll regret it.
One reality TV show in Canada I worked on was for home renovations. I lost count of how many homeowners freaked the fuck out during & after because producers asked contractors to do a LOT more than previously agreed on terms. Whenever any homeowners tried to speak up - told, they need lawyers because the 'show must go on'.
The show had to mete out several legal settlements to avoid bigger PR fallouts. I can't even state show name because that NDA is still 6 yrs from expiry.
Kinda late to this but my current #RealityTV obsession is #LoveAfterDivorce on Netflix. So wholesome and refreshing to see people with regular jobs not all influencers/models! Also the screen captions make me laugh like GLANCE 👀

Tried watching the American version of #FarmerWantsAWife and there were 2 God mentions and 1 hunting mention in the first 15 minutes so I think I'll go back to the Aussie version 😐 #RealityTV
I don't know if it's because I'm not as familiar with the culture but the Aussie folks seem more "real"... a bunch of the ladies on the American one seem like influencer types and I can't buy they would actually want to move to small town Missouri
I'm really enjoying #FarmerWantsAWife so far. I'm watching S 12 of the Australian version and the way this farmer is fretting over having kissed two (2!) girls is cute after watching #LoveIsland, #TheBachelor etc. I just like wholesome #RealityTV 😍
I started watching it as a filler between two seasons of Survivor (the best TV game show ever) and wow... It started a bit slow, but once it gets its stride... Oh boy...
Imagine. It's like a giant game of mafia/werewolves taking place in a Scottish castle and it's hosted by Alan Cumming who is the most over-the-toppish fabously host on TV ever.
Seriously, if you like social games, Alan Cumming, Scotland, reality TV (but the good one, the competitive one, not the fabricated drama one) watch this show.
Thank you @realityblurred for making me watch. I'm up to date with Season 2, and these past two episodes were on the same level as the best episodes of Survivor.
There are for sure cultural differences, some more pronounced. Nicknames is one of those things. Cutesy names for things is too. Margarita, "Margie", etc. But they're just that, cultural differences. Quirks. I even found the lack of sarcasm refreshing.
The seasons have some of the best survivor play I've seen though, and I've seen em all. George is a highlight for sure because he is actually that much better at the game than everyone else though.
On the note of cultural difference, there are a few instances of bringing in former American survivors to Australian, and wow that's when it becomes apparent. Americans are so cynical and comically "villainous", the rest of the world sees right through it. Made for some interesting episodes for sure.

"people at their most vulnerable" is usually when cops are more likely to arrest me, as my abused-into-compliance shell is at it's weakest, and cops dont like me when I'm angry.
@GreenRoc Having a bunch of TV cameras & lights in your face during any kind of encounter with police would throw even the calmest of people - really off.
