Congratulations to Stockfish for reporting their 14th victory at Chessdom's TCEC after a close battle against Leela Chess Zero! Both the engines, like #lichess, are run by a community of #freesoftware enthusiasts: yet another victory for #libre software in the chess world!
I keep getting quite a lot of positive feedback about my #MastodonBirdUI. Even @Gargron liked my post where I explained the design choices made. Thank you everyone so much about the input. I'm kinda surprised so many prefer mine over the default. I lost count in how many instances enabled it for all their users.
I've been thinking about rewriting the Mastodon base SCSS. I'm a CSS/SCSS guy after all. The new base framework would have
CSS variables instead of SCSS variables with SCSS function modifications: Easier to manage
Simpler style base: Less nesting, less hacks, less everything: Cleaner code
Better and more efficient modularization
Accessible and flexible SVG graphics instead of icon fonts like Font Awesome
However, it would be a lot of work. I created my version of the UI in a couple of weeks, then been improving it daily.
Worth noting is that not everyone prefers this choice of design as it's way too close to a site we all hate. That's why I'm afraid if I do all the work and send a PR, it would go in vain. It could still be a good start though.
I have high hopes for #Mastodon to improve the UI themselves and look forward to it to get better over time. I just have ideas. Will keep the choices open here.
I am having a hard time with this one, so maybe someone on here could be of assistance. I need to find a linux patch management system that is open source and free. I was super amped about one called Spacewalk, but have found that is no longer maintained and out of support.
In response to the Cyber Resilience Act (#CRA) the global #OpenSource community might just withdraw some offers of source code rather than resolve the uncertainty.

@mcnees lol, I had a similar experience where one of my PhD committee members pulled up a chair in front of my seat before class and in an ominous tone he says, "Terri, I found you on the Internet."
It turned out he had some questions about GNU Mailman and since at the time I had written mot of the current docs, he had noticed my relatively uncommon name at the top of the file.
But he was also absolutely intentionally trolling me, something I learned to appreciate a lot when he later used his skills to manipulate my entire thesis committee into being too ashamed to suggest that my writing was "too informal" (aka, too easy to understand).
