metalhead.club will place commercial advertising in Wacken!
Have I lost my mind? Maybe. metalhead.club will probably be the first Fediverse instance to place advertising in "real life"! I'm super excited about this experiment 🤘
My FediWatch tool is still in very alpha stage, but if you feel lucky, try out https://watch.metalhead.club and watch our instance communicate with the rest of the Fediverse :)
(server-to-server communication only - user data is not analyzed!)
Now that the first official, federated connection from a Fediverse account to a single (!) Meta threads.net account has been made, the Threads topic is boiling up again.
Many of us Fediverse citizens see this as an opportunity for the Fediverse to gain in importance.
At least as many are sceptical about whether we should be exchanging data with Threads at all.
As an instance admin, I'm worried about making a decision that could alienate users on both sides. 😓 🧵
We have a final design for our metalhead.club Billboard in Wacken (village of Wacken Open Air!)
A big "Thank you! 🙏 " goes out to @bestiaexmachina for her work on the design! ... and also thanks to all the members who contributed their ideas and thoughts - I named them all in the updated blog post:
Today is my 1 year anniversary here on #MetalheadClub and on the #Fediverse in general. I’ve had a blast and can’t imagine using any other social media.
Testament to this is that I posted 18k times on Twitter in 14 and a half years.
Here on Mastodon I’m on over 4k posts in one year. So thank you and also I’m sorry 😅
I'm planning to offer metalhead.club t-shirts with our new logo on them. Unfortunately I have no idea how many of you are interested in purchasing such a t-shirt.
So: Let me know if you're interested and boost 🚀 if you are a Metalhead.club member. Thank you very much! 🤘
(I cannot announce a price yet, because it will depend on the supplier and the number of shirts we order per batch.)
So many people haven't heard of this place, even though it might be just right for them.
Traditional advertising is very ineffective with my/our resources. As far as I know, it's only worthwhile with advertising budgets in the five-figure range.
I would like to rely on personal contacts because I hope that "the right" people will come here and fewer people who want to cause trouble or sabotage.
Rough costs per user per month for metalhead.club:
€ 0,23 = USD 0,25
If every user chipped in that amount every month, we'd be totally fine 😁
Incredible, huh? 😉 Now imagine everybody had a dollar left at the end of the month 💵😳
Of course this is reality and I understand that not everybody is ready to contribute. Whether due to laziness, other priorities, inappropriate payment methods ... That's fine as long as others step in. 💪
Habe heute den @Dad_Wood mal persönlich kennen gelernt! 😎
Habe leider nicht viel Zeit mitgebracht, aber es war total schön, mal einem metalhead.club Member im "echten Leben" zu begegnen und sich über dies und das auszutauschen. 😊
Regarding the #metalheadclub t-shirt: Do you prefer the logo to be on the front or the back of your t-shirt?
I imagine it to be better readable on the back. (and on concerts, festivals,... You will probably be seen from the back most of the time?). On the other hand it might be incompatible to vests, jackets, hoodies,...
What do you think?
(I'll clarify cost for big logo on back and small logo in front) ;)
