Home-baked bread from last night's celebration of the Feast of Grapes (it went very nicely with the wine). Today begins the ten-day celebration of the Mysteries, Ariadne's Tribe's Minoan version of the Eleusinian Mysteries. Good times!
Raspberry bread and butter pudding. I made the dish this is in specifically for this recipe so I could make 3 layers and it is my most favourite dessert.
A local bakery makes the most incredible cardamom buns that sell out in a flash. I really need to know how to make them so I’m on a mission to experiment with recipes.
Recipe #1 is https://cuitegoods.blog/versatile-sourdough-bread-2-3-2-2/ as it uses a honey glaze, as does the bakery. Not so sticky, but very tasty! I used both bread & plain flours, which gave a lovely soft crumb. Grinding cardamom seeds is a faff, but worth it.
On the hunt for recipe #2 now, so pls let me have your recommendations!
I've nearly persuaded myself that buying a 400C pizza oven is a cost-effective option.

Haven’t attempted tarte flambée or flammekueche for ages - kind of like pizza with a crème fraîche, onion & bacon topping, from the Alsace region (apologies to anyone from there if I’ve messed it up 🙈). The edges are a bit thick as I had to fold them to make it fit my oven tray. However, I absolutely love the crust so that’s a bonus! #HomeBaking#dinner
After yesterday's failed attempt to make onion-filled baguettes*, I had another go today. This time, I mixed my sautéd onions with the rest of the ingredients at the start. I also added a little bit more yeast, because with 100gr onions added to the mix, there was a bit more heavy lifting involved:
Ingredients:
500gr 00 flour
320gr water
15gr fresh yeast
10gr salt
100gr sautéd onions.
