@homeassistant#HomeAssistant To follow up on this. I just got confirmation from the Raspiaudio account on their forums that i2s_din_pin: GPIO35. Will continue tinkering and post a full config if I get it working.
Yeah, I ended up resetting my modem (x2) and my router several times trying to get the Nest Learning Thermostat to find my network (to no avail).
If I make a "speaker group" within HA (even including that Muse speaker) it works fine. Casting to individual speakers works fine. But casting to the group was a circlejerk of cast noises, roughly 30 seconds apart.
Typically, I set the thermostat so it's nice and cool while I sleep. And in the morning, as I doom scroll, I'll ask my devices to increase the temperature to warm up the house. The thermostat app was undergoing maintenance this morning so I had to physically get out of bed and go downstairs to turn on the heat. Talk about a first world problem! #technology#SmartHome#lazy#IoT
@christine Depending on your thermostat, you can connect it locally to something like #homeassistant - this is how I have my Hive thermostat running, it’s hooked up via HimeAssistant’s fake HomeKit controller. So, no need for cloud or even internet.
Anyone using #homeassistant have recommendations for a cheap battery operated button? Preferably not zigbee (since I don't use it for anything else). Something prebuilt running #ESPHome would be just grand
I’m considering buying smart radiator thermostats, but I’m not sure about many of the claims, for instance the 20% savings on your bill and how smart are they really. I have district heating and according to my local heating company I use around 40-50% less than other comparable households. I’m currently looking at Aqara E1 Radiator Thermostat – combined with their TVOC –, as I already have their hub.
Any inputs would be greatly appreciate. 🥵 https://www.aqara.com/eu/product/radiator-thermostat-e1
@Fabrin I don't know about those claims, but we are using the E1 Radiator #thermostat and a couple of others based on the same internals (Redis is one, off the top of my head).
They all work fine in our ConBee II + #HomeAssistant -based setup. I don't get the impression that it really matters which brand you get when they're all basically built on the same base. Though obv. if you plan to use the Aqara hub then there are probably restrictions on non-Aqara #Zigbee products.
I have a remote(ish) outbuilding connected to my network via ubiquity nanostations, so too far for my #zigbee mesh. Is my best bet to run a second zigbee2mqtt instance, or is there a cleverer solution?
What's new in Home Assistant 2023.5 including a full tutorial on how to set up Voice Assistants in Home Assistant including how to connect it to OpenAI!
Why is there no standard switch to use local sites with #https? Setting up a local server with https so certain software works isn't simple. Especially when running #homeassistant and you don't have access to system files and packages.
Battery is already at 100% and it discharged all night. Sometimes I don’t let it discharge all night to make sure we have enough charge for the start of the next day. This is controlled by @homeassistant@homeassistant
#HomeAssistant will set the discharge time to either midnight, 2am, 4am, 6am depending on how much is left from the day before and the #Solcast forecast for the next day.
#SmartHome
It’s been a while, but today I’m doing some needed server hardware changes. I moved #Scrypted and #Homebridge off my RPi4. Scrypted moved to an add on in my #HomeAssistant deployment, and HB to an RPi Zero W I had sitting around.
Now I can finally make a proper Cat TV with the pi 4! Happy #caturday!
I spent some time working on my personal site today and wrote up a page outlining one of my favorite iOS #Shortcuts + #HomeAssistant combinations called Join Playing #Sonos
@brainofdane@passthejoe Indeed. I have 6 Macs in my house, and 3 of them run #Linux. I really only keep #macOS on my iMac because of the outstanding #Affinity apps, on my wife’s #MacBook for the Silhouette software, and my mother’s Mac mini because she’s 82.
