Telling people I have a shop makes my brain itch because I have a deeply rooted fear of being bothersome or annoying, but from time to time lovely people indicate they like and want to see and own my works, actually. As such, an advisory: if you’re in the UK and want to secure any goods ahead of the holiday, don’t delay too much as I’ll need to shutter my shop while I’m away over the break!

Just learned about #DecRecs! To make up for yesterday, Day 1 of Dec Recs I'll recommend this Chinese short animated series "All Saints Street" with four seasons. An angel, vampire, mummy, zombie, and werewolf live together. What could go wrong? Really enjoy it for the combination of great art, slice of life, and the supernatural. There's also a comic. It's produced similar to "Hey your cat ears are showing" but more memes and skulls than wholesome uwu.

For Day 8 of , for what I'd consider my favorite book I read in 2023, "Strange Beasts of China" by Yang Ge. Originally found on a goblincore book rec list, this book feels like a unique where these sort of -core aesthetics can be eurocentric, or play into exotic orientalism. It is a bestiary of various creatures found in Yong'an, with an overarching plot that has us questioning what it means to be human. Definitely look elsewhere if you're looking for something cozy, it is meant to be a bit unsettling and frustrating, but in a way that makes me feel seen. The source text in Chinese was written in 2003, and wasn't translated till about two decades later, with the author's approval.

I got a couple of simple knit capelets, and am turning them into couture (forestcore? Goblincore? What are we calling it, these days?) capelets.

I even managed to get the fastening stitches inside the knit stitches, so the thread doesn't show on the underside of the garment.

Labyrinth - 1986 - starring Jennifer Connelly and David Bowie. Directed by Jim Henson, produced by George Lucas. Inspired by the work of Brian Froud. (movie-web.app)

Give me the child. Through dangers untold and hardships unnumbered, I have fought my way here to the castle beyond the Goblin City to take back the child that you have stolen, for my will is as strong as yours, and my kingdom is as great....

One of my favorite plants is out now - Ghost plant (Monotropa uniflora). I've found them coming up in all sorts of new places this year! Very exciting!
