Dear

if you happen to write a useful tool with oh-so-fancy addition, and said addition is a) not needed for the tool to work, b) has significantly more requirements than the tool,

PLEASE make building the addition optional. And test if --without-… really works.

Sincerely,
User.

At our recent AC meeting in Hiroshima, Japan 🇯🇵 @simone, new W3C Security Lead, spoke on Security.

Privacy and security, fundamental to HumanRights and civil liberties, have always been key W3C agenda items. Onofri outlined a three-pillar approach to security: developing security standards, verifying those standards, and guiding to create a secure web.

Am I the only one who uses the interactive mode for "git commit"?

> git commit --interactive

I'm not really seeing much about this online, and every time I mention it to someone at work, it's new to them.

The only documentation about an interactive mode I see online is for "git add".

Hear me out. but rather than for dating, it's so that can find open source and bring things to fruition. I call it… okay, I don't have a punchline for the joke. But it's low-key a good idea.

Your boss, manager or client will never ask you to take time to refactor your code. They'll never ask you to set up a test suite for the code you wrote. They'll never ask you to upgrade your framework.

Do these things every day. Make them a part of your process. You don't need permission.
