I just noticed I won’t be able to watch next week’s #WWDC live. I always loved scrolling through social as they announced new stuff. But with Twitter being the shadow of its former self, I’ll probably won’t miss it that much this year.
Imagine, just for a moment if you will, that the next version of Xcode won't change Package.resolved out from under you every time you try to switch branches.
Would be SO cool if #Apple would add an on device #AI to #macOS that would index my own local content.
Being able to ask my Mac to do stuff for me would be very cool. Like “Use my most beautiful photos and make a screensaver”. Or “I forgot how to set up a SCNScene in SwiftUI, can you look in my local swift files for solutions?”
I put this in the unlikely pile of things to be announced at this years #WWDC, in a few years maybe?
Time to start following the #WWDC and #WWDC23 hashtags on Mastodon. Looking forward to see what new features, enhancements, and APIs everyone else are excited about it.
🎙️ Got anything fun you're working on to show off before WWDC? New app? Update? Student Challenge submission? Concept art? Drop a reply here — include a screenshot, link-out, and use the hashtag #showcase if you'd like to be boosted. Do remember you can edit posts if you forget something
@stroughtonsmith added a free tier to @mastowatch, my Mastodon server inspector! Allows anyone to browse #Mastodon server rules, emoji and even blocked domains without having to sign up or register. I planned to hold off for #WWDC but got too excited and released this week. New features for #MastoAdmin folks like being able to copy and reuse any server’s list of blocked domains plus custom icons that I’m stoked about. #showcasehttps://apple.co/3VUPytt
@stroughtonsmith Just in time for #wwdc, we released Where To? 12.6 with a new watchOS app completely rewritten in SwiftUI. Using Where To? you can easily find the closest and best rated restaurants, shops and services. The watch app features a new search UI, swipe-to-fave and a new complication reflecting the last viewed place from the iPhone. #showcase https://whereto.app
@stroughtonsmith I’ve been working with a group of musicians in the development community to perform LIVE near WWDC in a benefit concert for WomenWhoCode.
The show is Wed, June 7th at 7:30 pm in San Jose, CA at the Tabard Theater.
We’ll also be live-streaming the concert, for those who can’t be with us in person.
Check out https://livenearwwdc.com for the details about ticket sales. Live streaming info will be posted on that site closer to the show date.
A giant thank you to OmniGroup (@omnigroup) for being a Gold Sponsor for this year’s James Dempsey and the Breakpoints benefit concert for #WomenWhoCode!
We use their apps to plan LIVE near #WWDC and are so happy to have them on board as a sponsor!
A simple #RHSummit observation after a few days here: the average age of attendees is 10 to 15 years older than what I used to see at #WWDC a decade ago. Not complaining, I feel like I “fit” much better in here 😎👴🏻
Also: much more women and people of non-white/Caucasian origin. All in all, much more diversity!🙌🏻👍🏻
My advice for WWDC is the same every year: clear the deck. Ship everything you need to ship now, because the next few months are going to be distraction, frustration and SDK uncertainty. Even more so if Apple is about to announce a shiny new software platform to build apps for. Better still — have fresh updates to your apps ready to show off & talk about with other attendees, and fresh bugs to bring to labs #WWDC
