Okay, so I know it's only early March, but surely things are gearing up for #wwdc soon right? What is the current rumour trend happening? #iOSDev#macOSDev#watchOSDev#visionOSDev
In 2014, Apple made a #WWDC video featuring Larry David and JB Smoove (and Evan Spiegel of Snapchat) that was never publicly shown. In this short, Larry David plays the part of the Apple App Approver that somewhat capriciously approves or denies apps that were submitted to the app store.
I hope we see a more unified UI experience between MacOS and iOS/iPadOS at this #wwdc The current MacOS still looks janky with the iOS stuff. I hate to see what VisionOS mixes into the fray.
This year’s WWDC should be interesting. I’m guessing most of it will be VisionPro focused (heh). This will be the first year in decades where I don’t have a device to code to. Not sure how much of WWDC will be applicable to non-VisionPro.
I feel it’s time for Apple to have another musical guest at WWDC this year. They are overdue for a Music app refresh. Who would you want to see? I doubt Taylor Swift would show up.
In @IceCubesApp I share 100% of the codebase between the native visionOS app and the iOS/iPadOS/macOS app! #SwiftUI makes it super easy. For the composer, here is how I set my view as a keyboard accessory or an ornament, depending on the OS.
Ice Cubes is the perfect example of something wrong with the #SwiftUI List. I hope we'll see some improvements next #WWDC. It's time to say goodbye to the UICollectionView backend.
Ivory v1.7 is here! This release is all about hashtags. It's set to slowly roll out over the next few days, but you can force download it now from our App Store page:
@clonezone@ivory +1 for what Elliot is asking for. This was a great feature in Tweetbot. I could have saved searches for #wwdc or #doctorwho and check in on them from time to time. But I don’t want those searches mixed in my timeline. Nor do I want to hide posts about those things by people I follow.
The #Swift distributed actor system that Apple introduced at #WWDC 2022 hasn't gotten nearly enough attention. It can really simplify development for independent coders that need to add a server component to their iOS application. Check out my blog post on distributed actors and my open-source library for building client-server apps in Swift.
The deepest dive into the art and science of colour that you didn’t know you needed, including:
How light works
How vision works
Computer graphics
Colour Theory
Colour spaces
Non-Euclidean geometry
Gamuts
Palettes
RGB vs sRGB vs HSL
OKLAB
And somehow even more than that
Anyone who watched the @jensimmons#WWDC#CSS session where they showed off #Safari LAB and OKLAB support and your eyes glossed over, maybe check out this video! I understand better what it is and why it’s cool now!
#iOS Devs: I could have sworn there was a very old #wwdc video that summarized how a pixel gets to the screen, including discussion about touch event delivery, and CoreAnimation commit/layout/render cycles, and how to visualize them on Instruments. I can’t seem to find it any more. Does anyone know what I’m talking about?
