"More than 1,000 people have been arrested in crackdowns on #UniversityProtests across the United States. Facing #PoliceBrutality, arrests, and attacks from counter-protesters, what will #StudentProtesters do next?"
I'd just like to say I've been to enough protests of various topics that I have, in the past, seen anarchists, black block types, etc. I know what they look like.
I saw them before the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, and another time in Vancouver at a Climate protest. In both cases they were a tiny TINY portion of the crowd and stuck out like a sore thumb and have never, in my experience, ever been acting in connection with the overall group. They are their own thing.
There has been nothing of that sort in any protest that I have seen in these #Palestine protests. So any suggestion of such is, in my opinion, a pure fabrication and an incitement and dog whistle to Police to justify violence against the encampments.
Dozens of protesters took over a building at Columbia University in New York early Tuesday, barricading the entrances and unfurling a Palestinian flag out of a window in the latest escalation of demonstrations against the Israel-Hamas war that have spread to college campuses nationwide.
"In a rare case, Northwestern University said it reached an agreement with students and faculty who represent the majority of protesters on its campus near Chicago. It allows...
...peaceful #demonstrations through the June 1 end of spring classes and in exchange, requires removal of all tents except one for aid, and restricts the demonstration area to allow only students, faculty and staff unless the university approves otherwise.
At the University of Southern California [#USC], organizers of a large encampment sat down with university President Carol Folt for about 90 minutes on...
...number of faculty demanding amnesty for protesters.
👉At issue is whether the suspensions and legal records will follow students through their adult lives..."👈
Students of law should be very careful in particular. Breaking the law to exercise a right (#1A) cannot be an adequate path for a future lawyer or judge in my view, regardless of the justification of the grievance.
If you're demanding a #ceasefire in #Gaza but not calling for #ReleaseGazaHostages & demanding #BringThemHome & #HamasSurrender then you are not working for peace. You are working for the enemies of democracy & decency, and the destruction of all you claim to hold dear.
