I started aggressive inline skating in the mid-1990s during its heyday and skated regularly through the mid-aughts. The last time I seriously skated was around the time this picture of me was taken in 2006 at an indoor skate park near me. Aggressive inline skating wasn't that popular by then and I was the only inline skater in a park dominated by bikers and skateboarders, which was pretty lonely. The park shut down shortly afterwards and I put my skates away.
Sometimes it is strange how your kids are a perfect mirror of yourself: Lately, our four girls discovered skateboarding and while the youngest one prefers her small scooter for now, the three elder girls jumped on the SK8-wagon. 30 years after I discovered this sport by myself, I had to queue in and re-learn to handle the deck once again which is - as often - a mix of joy and pain!

When I went to the 2017 World Figure #Skating Championships in Helsinki, I brought my camera and took well over 2,000 photos. I wasn't sure what I'd do with the pictures other than upload them to Wikimedia Commons, which was then lacking in a lot of skating "action" photos (as opposed to pictures of skaters on the medal stand at the Winter Olympics or PR photos from their national federation). Did it again in 2018 in Milan. Don't expect to do so In Montreal because that niche is now well filled.

Donc j'ai pu faire les exercices, pas l'entraînement en lui-même parce que pas le matos et pas le niveau.
Mais j'adore l'énergie et l'ambiance.
