This is going to sound.....odd, but I genuinely don't think anyone can be truly prepared, or ever truly understand how absolutely exhausting it is being a parent before you're one of them. Even on the good days I'm absolutely shattered by the end of the day.
The French greet each other with a friendly "bonjour."
In Germany you'll hear, "guten morgen."
Italian mornings are for saying "buongiorno" with a smile.
In our house, however, it's customary to stand next to a sleeping parent and - at full volume and without warning - say, "Where's my school uniform tie?"
Child B is potty training and had an accident today, needing new underpants, but we'd forgotten to stock up their stash in the nursery. So they got a loaner pair from the nursery that are day of the week themed with 'Friday' written on them, and very clearly styled for a gender other than Child B's. I'm shocked; I don't know how they can confuse a child like that - it's a TUESDAY! They're going to think tomorrow is the weekend now. #parenting
So every week I make a playlist of metal for Saturday morning to listen to with my kids. The closer from a couple days ago was "Coma" by Guns n Roses. Today, W says to me, "yo, Coma f---ing slaps!" Apparently he spent all day listening to it on repeat on Monday.
So, yesterday MDMRNia told me that she got into an argument with MDMRN Twin 2 and MT2 turned to her and yelled, "Respect your youngers." To which the two of them just stopped fighting & stated laughing.
We did the #DrSeussExperience in #TysonsCorner today. The kids loved it! My wife and I expected a bit more (premium priced!) but I’m glad that both kiddos had a good time. The staff was very friendly and serviceable. They were always ready to snap family pictures pictures on your behalf. Overall rating: 7/10
Watching the #SpaceX#Starship launch today was really cool. It's pretty amazing to see these kinds of mega-launches and test runs live compared to seeing historical documentaries of them like I grew up with.
Also nice #parenting moment to talk about learning, experimentation, and partial failures.
MDMRN Twin 1: Are they supposed to be fighting people?
MDMRNia: What's the word for after the world ends?
Me: Post-apocalyptic?
MDMRNia: Yea, that. This video is like that.
MDMRN Twin 2: Why is that girl (Chaeyoung) jumping off the building?
Me: I...don't know...For added drama?
MT2: * looks at the TV skeptically * That's not safe.
MDMRN Twin 1: How old are these girls?
Me: I think they're from like 16 to 19. They're very young.
MDMRN Twin 2: You could be their Dad.
MT1: Yay! Little MDMRN will get a bunch of older sisters.
MDMRNia: What is happening here? Is there a theme?
Me: Sure
MDMRNia: Yea, what? Spooky hotel?
MDMRN Twin 1: And abandoned amusement park!
MDMRNia Yes. Old abandoned amusement park and Alice in Wonderland.
Me: ...
MDMRNia: That's too many themes.
Tales of listening to #KPop with my kids:
Artist: Blackpink
Location: In the car with my 3 daughters
Actual Conversation:
MDMRNia: There are 4 of us here, which member of BLACKPINK are each of us?
MDMRN Twin 1: Rosé
MDMRN Twin 2: Pass
MDMRNia: I think I would be Lisa...
Me: No, cause...
MDMRNia: Did she say something about her tongue and a razor blade? Sounds painful.
Me: She said her tongue is a razor blade.
MDMRNia: Still painful. Wow.
Me: It's a metaphor
MDMRNia: Glaring Still, though.
Me: So, what did you think of the song.
MDMRN Twin 1: I really liked the one who had her hair up in braids that looked like cat ears
Me: But did you like the song?
MT1: How did she do that? I wonder if I could do that. I don't know. That looks really hard to do.
