@LucidDan@thorne@decryption the more I think about #OpenSource, the more I think it's some sort of chaotic system - it has all sorts of chaos - like eleventy billion nodejs libraries, but convergence on a small number of mail providers.
They're like strange attractors from complexity theory / chaos theory.
Why is email so different to other forms of application ingress and egress? I haven't figured that part out yet.
Or it could be that email has a very good "moat" in terms of "you're not allowed across the drawbridge unless you're a major provider", which is the protection racket part ...
Just trying to figure out how to practically support ISO 10303 in a yet-to-be-made-public #OpenSource project that I am working on.
The standard is modular with each part costing $100-$200 and all kinda of additions are being made to it with even final drafts that are hard to come by.

I realise of course that this is not always possible, and depends on what kind of things you need to do on your computer, but at least on my computers, I have no commercial software.
