I have family in #Florida. I have friends in Florida. My professional association's annual convention this year is in Florida.
Florida just passed a law letting doctors and healthcare facilities refuse to treat LGBTQ+ people if they have religious objections to our existing. That presumably includes life-saving emergency room care.
Other than visiting older close relatives, I probably will never go to Florida again. It joins my list of dangerously fanatical Bible Belt states to stay the hell away from.
I'm a #neurodivergent#WomanInTech working as an #SRE for Warner Bros Discovery, the creator #FediHost (the platform hosting this and other servers), admin of outdoors.lgbt :mastodon:, and the newly launched calckey.lgbt :calckey:
Like it says on the sign, I'm a cute girl trapped in a giant's ugly body. I'm not kidding about the giant part: I'm almost 7 feet tall in real life. It makes clothes hard to find. I'm also 40s. Never say never, right?
My egg cracked early in the pandemic but there were plenty of signs. My supportive spouse is the only one I'm out to.
I'm a #leftist#lesbian, and probably some other stuff too but I'm a bit overwhelmed. I'm here to learn and share and apparently be corny as hell.
A #queer person coming out to you is not an invitation to negotiate. It's them telling you who and what they are. And that's not something you can change with threats or bribes. It's not something you can talk them out of. You can embrace it or lose them. Those are your options.
