Article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights affirms the right to and declares that it should be free, at least in the basic and fundamental stages. Education is identified as a right that should be accessible to all and that should contribute to the full development of the human personality and to the strengthening of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.

It upholds the right of parents to choose the kind of education their children will receive, and stresses the importance of education not only in imparting knowledge but also in shaping a world in which individuals are equipped to make a positive contribution to society, to respect others and to live together in peace.

As a human rights activist, I cannot remain silent about the alarming situation faced by people deprived of their liberty. Overcrowding and overpopulation in prisons not only violate human dignity, but also make it impossible to guarantee minimum living conditions.

JaumedUrgell,
@JaumedUrgell@mastodon.cloud avatar

Together, we can and must promote a prison system that focuses on rehabilitation rather than punishment, a system that reflects the values of justice and humanity that we all deserve.

Article 20 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights affirms the right to freedom of assembly and association. This means that everyone is free to assemble peacefully with others in order to express, promote, pursue and defend their common interests. This fundamental right is crucial to a democratic society because it enables individuals to come together, whether for social, political or economic purposes, and fosters a spirit of community and collective action.

It ensures that people can form and join clubs, organisations, political parties or any other group to express their ideas and aims without fear of intimidation or persecution. This right is essential to the healthy functioning of any society because it encourages dialogue, mutual understanding and the pursuit of common goals in a peaceful and cooperative manner.

🇵🇰 The International Human Rights Foundation (IHRF) strongly condemns the actions taken to censor the social network X (Twitter), which constitute a flagrant violation of the fundamental human right to freedom of expression and opinion.

Such actions not only violate universal principles enshrined in international human rights law, but also stifle essential democratic discourse and the free flow of information.

ihrf,
@ihrf@mastodon.cloud avatar

The IHRF stresses the urgent need for all states and entities to uphold the inviolable rights to freedom of expression and access to information, which are the foundations of any free, open and democratic society.

We urge the immediate cessation of all forms of censorship and the guarantee of an unfettered digital space where individuals can freely express their thoughts and ideas without fear of reprisal or restriction.

#KnowYourRights Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights enshrines the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion. This article ensures that everyone has the freedom to hold their own beliefs, whether they are religious, philosophical or personal, without fear of coercion or repression.

It underscores the notion that intellectual freedom is a universal human right, integral to personal autonomy and social progress. By protecting this broad spectrum of thought and belief, Article 18 upholds the dignity of the individual and the collective enrichment of society, and lays the foundation for a world that respects diversity and encourages the free exchange of ideas. #IHRF #HumanRights #Freedom #Liberty #Thought #Conscience #Religion

No part of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights should be used as an excuse to take away or limit the rights and freedoms of others. It's important that we all work together to protect and respect each other's rights and make sure they are never abused or ignored.

We all have duties to our community that help us grow and live well together. Our rights come with the responsibility to respect others' rights and follow the rules that keep us all safe.

As the International Human Rights Foundation (), we state unequivocally: Hospitals, schools and unarmed civilians should never be targets. Respect for international humanitarian law is not optional. Together, we must uphold these standards to protect humanity.

We at the International Human Rights Foundation observe with deep concern an escalating decline in global confidence in both the rule of law and the principles of international humanitarian law. This trend is alarming and requires immediate attention and action to uphold human dignity and justice worldwide.

🇦🇷 As the International Human Rights Foundation , we strongly oppose and condemn the decision of Mr. President Javier Milei to remove public subsidies and support to opposition demonstrators. This act undermines the principles of the rule of law, in particular the imposition of penalties not provided for in the criminal code. The administration of the state must be free of ideological bias and uphold its duty to remain neutral and non-discriminatory.

Today, on the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, we note with sadness that an anniversary means nothing. We do not celebrate its global achievement, but note the oblivion of the horror that led to its adoption. Almost everything to be done.

#Spain🇪🇸🇪🇺 We welcome the fact that the Spanish authorities are finally taking action to tackle racist hate crime in sport. We welcome the numerous arrests of neo-Nazi hooligans in recent days. We welcome the partial closure of the stadium where the attacks on Brazilian player Vinícius Júnior took place. We welcome the withdrawal of the unjust sanction against the victim. We hope that the Spanish courts will fulfil their duty in accordance with the law. #Racism #ViniciusJr #Vinicius #IHRF #soccer

#Pakistan🇵🇰 The International Human Rights Foundation (#IHRF) expresses its full support for Pakistani journalist Moeed Pirzada in the face of threats to his life that he is receiving through various channels. We call for a de-escalation of political tensions and a return to the principles of democracy: the separation of powers, respect for #HumanRights, due process, the rule of law and the primacy of civilian and elected power over economic and military power.
