#Korea’s participation in global R&D through #HorizonEurope since 2025 can lead to the acceleration of domestic #OpenScience policies and developments in line with global trends.
Out on the ice with a bigger team today, here's a completely accidental drone shot showing our colleagues from the Greenland Institute of Natural Resources deploying some instruments under the sea ice to measure ocean noise and narwhal populations.
DMI and GINR are collaborating in the EU #HorizonEurope project #ArcticPassion which this works contributes to. I was flying the drone and doing snow work for DMI that will be used in another EU project @polarRES, and it will probably also be used together with ESA satellite data: a nice example of EU projects working together in the #PolarRegions #Greenland#Grønland#Fieldwork#Fieldphoto#Fieldwork2024#Arctic#Snow#SeaIce#DMI#GINR#NCKF
📢 Just published! EUA outlines its strategic vision for the next EU R&I Framework Programme (#FP10), offering its contribution to shaping the programme.
After describing current and emerging trends, this vision examines the current state of play and challenges of the ongoing Framework Programme (#HorizonEurope) and the European R&I landscape. It subsequently formulates recommendations for the programme to reach its ambitious goals:
You'll assess the quality of applications after the call closes.
Requirements are:
❏ EU or from #HorizonEurope associated countries.
❏ Scientists or business experts from academia or industry.

💶 Remuneration includes €40 per evaluation and €25 per interview.
🌊 We're thrilled to announce that the OCEANIDS project website is now live! Jump into a sea of knowledge and discovery as we embark on our journey to monitor and protect coastal areas across Europe.
European research peeps: did you know that most EU & some non-EU countries have a Research Office in Brussels to help with things like Horizon EU coordination? And that many of these offices have meeting rooms you can borrow? This can be really handy if you need a central location for a consortium meeting for a Horizon Europe grant (whether at application stage or post-award). Handy & can minimise flights as very accessible by train. Would recommend! #HorizonEurope#ConsortiumBuilding#Research
The United Kingdom will make its return to the European Union's science research programme, Horizon Europe, on 1 January 2024, both sides confirmed on Monday.
The announcement was made after the political agreement to allow the UK to rejoin Horizon as well as Copernicus, the Earth observation component of the EU's space programme, was adopted.
The association of Canada to #HorizonEU is a big win that many have dreamt about for years. In a time when #EU spending is become closer related to European policy goals, there will be a continuous trade-off between contribution to #horizoneurope and the priorities of the programme.
In this #OCEANICEBreaker we explore objective 4 aiming to quantify #AntarcticIceSheet melt sensitivity to climate forcing and reduce the 'deep uncertainty' in freshwater flux and #SeaLevelRise projections to 2300 💙
Interesting discussion paper on the long-term impact of winning an #ERC grant. It turns out that whether you get the grant has no significant impact on publication performance for those who rank similarly in the application process. Winning an EU grant makes it more likely to receive further EU funding, though. #HorizonEurope https://docs.iza.org/dp16108.pdf
I have very seldom been in a project poster session with so much exciting research on display. The #PolarRES consortium is full of incredibly talented scientists (especially the ECRs who seem to have been turbo charged by th bootcamp last year).
Big news for #UK science: "The UK is to return to the flagship #HorizonEurope science research programme, Rishi Sunak has confirmed.…From Thursday [today], British scientists can apply once again for grants from the £85bn programme, a move that will be welcomed with jubilation from the science community in the UK which was once one of the leading beneficiaries of the fund." https://www.theguardian.com/science/2023/sep/07/horizon-brexit-eu-science-rishi-sunak
