I visited the Banksy retrospective exhibition at the Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow, last night and it was very entertaining - I can't ever remember seeing people queue outside a gallery, which has been open through the night at weekends to cope with huge demand. Might I share my Black experience of ending up on Mastodon?
I was with the queer disabled BIPOC art community on Twitter. They're more internet savvy than the average internet user. So groups within groups connected to groups of people.
Many were making comics online and selling at conventions since the days of Angelfire and Geocities. 1990s.
When sht began to hit the fans, folks had relied on twitter. Sure they had their own sites... but... #blackmastodon#blackfedi
...can go a long way, as well as, maybe a #rapper's song, a #meme, or even #StreetArt; like #grafitti, not unauthorized, pls ;)).
These are just some examples that I could think of right away, but it is your community, so you should know how to reach them.
As for me, I am trying to enlarge/rebuilt my diverse network, and have been making progress with indigenous people of North America (so far). I hope,...
