Hey everyone! The 66th edition of the #GodotWildJam is over, and our game made it to rank 15 overall (out of 159 games). If you haven't yet, maybe give it a go? :)
Deservedly won the "Originality" category: This solo (!) project effortlessly nailed the theme and all three wildcards with a really clever mix of visual novel and bullet hell game, including witty writing and nice character art. Much recommended!
In this extremely pretty game, your task is to move a little coy from shadow puddle to shadow puddle until it finally reaches the sea. "Shadow puddle!?", you may ask. That's right! Instead of water, it swims through shadows and quickly withers in light. So you switch between morning, noon and evening to make the shadows wander around.
"Spelunk't" might not be perfectly on theme, but really impressed me with its clever mechanic. Don't want to spoil too much, so lemme just say it's a platformer with a bit of... well, "Tetris". 😉 Feels like there's a ton more potential behind that idea!
"Lumina" looks and plays quite a bit like "Limbo" and has some clever puzzles as well. I just wish the jump wouldn't be so clunky. It's probably by design, but still...
In "Vampire Bedtime" you play as a vampire re-arranging furniture to finally get some well deserved rest in the shadows, far away from that pesky sunlight.
If you hate puzzle games, then give "Bouncy Batsy" a go instead. Beause this "Jump King" inspired rage-game will make you hate yourself even more than that!
The last game on my list is quite a bit different: a metroidvania where you play as a snowman, that melts in the sunlight, but grows back to full size in the shadows. I found it a bit difficult, and waiting in the shadows to regrow to full size can get a bit annoying, but for a jam game there's quite a bit of content here, and I highly respect the ambition behind it all. So definitely give this a go!
@godotengine@PirateSoftware "It's Spreading": "Things like pandemic, zombie apocalypse, idea, or bagel toppings come to mind" AND #Godot! 😜 I'll wait for the theme for the #GodotWildJam first, though. :)
