@ktn
I think i spoke too soon with regards to #Geary appearing to be working properly - turns out it's broke again! It suddenly can't connect to my mail providers IMAP server despite working fine earlier today.
Even after rebooting the laptop still having the same problem and no way to troubleshot the issue. I know there is nothing wrong with the credentials because i'm receiving mails fine on other devices/clients.
Since I began using #Linux 3 years ago I’ve been using #gnome’s email client, #geary, for my gmail account. Lately it’s using lots of cpu, even when gui isn’t open, heating my laptop. Also there have been other occasional hiccups and wonky stuff.
Any suggestions for a desktop email client for #PopOs (using their DE)?
Being a Firefox user my inclination is toward Mozilla’s #Thunderbird. Other suggestions?
I downloaded #thunderbird a wile ago and set up a few of my email accounts, however I just kep using #geary as I had previously done.
Now I think I might just straight up delete Geary to force myself to use thunderbird, I really want to start organizing my emails more and I need a feature rich email client for that.
We win! Transit wins! The community wins! We are very grateful the SFMTAB finally passed the Geary Improvement Project. Transit riders and pedestrians deserve efficient transit and safe streets.
None of this would have been possible without the tireless work of @fast_safe_geary! Thank you! 💗🙏🏻🚸🚍
Mozilla has lost touch with its primary user base. Firefox users are dedicated and actively choose to install Firefox on their devices, even over other popular browsers such as Edge, Safari, and Chrome. They are considered power users, and any shenanigans toward them (such as displaying full-screen VPN Ads) could result in them switching to a different browser. Mozilla stops Firefox fullscreen VPN ads after user outrage https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/mozilla-stops-firefox-fullscreen-vpn-ads-after-user-outrage/
@aral Hi. Long time ago at Twitter you said, that you will be testing german mail provider mailbox.org...
What about an update? Did you already do? Any results/experiences? Really interested in your feedback.
What I really hate are providers that f**k around with customers' eMails like @protonmail and @Tutanota when the only good and correct way to #E2EE is #SelfCustody.
Or worse: Providers that prevent the use of #IMAP4, #POP3 & #SMTP at all!
And I don't mean like #paywall it...
