"The BBC has edited out multiple calls for a ceasefire in Gaza from the Scottish Bafta Awards ceremony – including the presentation of an entire award."
"One award presentation and speech by winners referencing calls for a ceasefire has been completely removed from the ceremony coverage".
@TheNational "BBC edits out stars' calls for Gaza ceasefire at Scottish Baftas".
Following my post on the BBC censoring the #Gaza protests at the #BAFTAScotAwards in Glasgow, I'm watching "Good Night, and Good Luck", a superb film about the legendary journalist Edward R Murrow who along with his colleagues at CBS challenged the McCarthy witch hunts of the early 1950s.
It's on ITVX in the UK. If you haven't seen it, don't miss it; if you have seen it, watch it again!
The Israeli hostage ceasefire deal will give us a few days off from being outraged at military strikes on hospitals and schools, and a few days off from arguing about whether or not there are military strikes on hospitals and schools.
And then they will resume military strikes on hospitals and schools, and we will feel fresh outrage at military strikes on hospitals and schools...
No. It's not complicated. You don't need to have a PhD in Middle Eastern Studies, or to give a strong argument using all your knowledge of the historical and political and religious matters in the region. You don't need to present a critical assessment of the conflict and outline your reasoning behind wanting a ceasefire. You don't even have to have a reason.
Makes me sick : Ukrainian Mercs, or Dual Israeli-Ukrainian soldiers, have gone into the #Gaza Strip and have decided to randomly write graffiti "Slava #Ukraine" onto one of the walls.
Great way of making Arabs fall in love with Ukraine against #Russia.
If the "most moral army" is doing everything "most morally", one would wonder why its ally is worried about journalists getting into Gaza.
"And there was some concern in the administration about an unintended consequence of the pause: that it would allow journalists broader access to Gaza and the opportunity to further illuminate the devastation there and turn public opinion on Israel."
Joe Biden is concerned about a cease-fire in Gaza because "it would allow journalists broader access to Gaza" and might "further illuminate the devastation" by Israel and therefore "turn public opinion on Israel."
Can't have people seeing the destruction and changing their opinion on Israel, I guess.
"Democracy Now! speaks with two researchers who lead the Decentralized Damage Mapping Group, a network of scientists using remote sensing to analyze and map the damage and destruction in the Gaza Strip since #Israel’s attacks began on October 7. Radar technology shows that Israel’s bombing campaign has left about half of all buildings in northern Gaza damaged or destroyed since October 7, with at least 56,000 buildings in #Gaza damaged overall."
#Biden admin crows about #Gaza Ceasefire "...verbal fellatio for an achievement as minimal as not murdering children for a few days....
“And there was some concern in the administration about an unintended consequence of the pause: that it would allow journalists broader access to Gaza and the opportunity to further illuminate the devastation there and turn public opinion...”
As we sit down to Thanksgiving feasts, people in Gaza struggle to find enough food to stay alive. What we eat in a day is likely what you're able to find in Gaza in a week.
Harvard Law Review Editors Vote to Kill Article About Genocide in Gaza
The article on the Gaza war and the Nakba was commissioned, edited, fact checked, and prepared for publication — but was then blocked amid a climate of fear.
A #Tunisian star, Hend Sabri -
After 13 years of working at the World Food Programme, Hend Sabri submitted her resignation due to the use of starvation as a weapon against the people of #Gaza. @tunisia@palestine
"The Washington Post made the remarkable admission that Israel attacked al-Shifa Hospital to “pressure Hamas to reach a deal on hostage releases.” This admits Israel is using hospitals as a bargaining chip, talk of Hamas bunkers and weapons cache is a lie, and the attacks on hospitals are then deliberate state terrorism and war crimes."
