I think I'm finally ready to unsubscribe from Linus Media Group channels. Between their rampant misinformation, their questionable conflicts of interest/ethics violations, a corporate handbook that forbids discussion of wages (which is illegal in British Columbia, by the way), and clear demonstrations of wage theft by the company, Linus's entire facade of being a for-the-people reviewer is obviously fake. Linus Media Group's entire goofy atmosphere seems to hide an underlying corporate culture that values quantity of content and profit over all-else.
Pretty much the like RTX 4600 Ti 16 Gb, the RX 7600 XT is just expensive for what it is. The only thing going for it is the VRam amount, but the performance is pretty marginal.
How did the GPU market get this bad with value. $350-400 used to give you a high end xx70 or RX x700 card. Not anymore.
It seems like the GN's video did have an effect on LTT's viewership. I know that AMD Ultimate Tech Upgrade will get more views than a Why is Everyone buying this *. But, 350K views is still low, even a day later.
Woah, GamersNexus is pivoting back to heavy-duty text content on the web.
They're not pivoting away from video - that's where most of their audience is, so it still leads. But they've re-launched their own site, heavy on the text, and third-party ad-free.
(They pitch their own stuff, of course. But.)
I'm boosting because 1) fuck yeah I'm here for it 2) they're filling in data they had to cut for the YouTube algorithm so the website has more info and 3) this is where I see people saying JUST GIVE ME TEXT TO READ, and they are. Related videos are embedded, but the data's all there in text.
In my opinion, LTT has always been more about entertainment than education. Labs be damned. #GamersNexus is doing some really great work and taking a huge risk by stepping on this limb to call #LTT and #LMG out on their bullshit.
Intel 14th Gen, basically the same CPU with minor to little performance improvement over 13th gen and probably a waste of sand. Intel is getting desperate as AMD Ryzen still eating their cake.
Besides Intel pretty pathetic attempt to bash AMD over their naming scheme, AMD in 2024 is planning to sell the same Ryzen 7840U and brand it as a 8840U, the average consumer is going to see the 8840U being faster than the 7840U, when in reality it's not. It's just a rebrand with minor changes. It's an anti-consumer move and pretty deceptive since an average consumer isn't going to know which is the fastest CPU on a laptop.
Intel of course is guilty of the same thing, but of course they do the same. Also, Intel made a sleazy slide deck calling AMD out for selling a 2019 year APU in 2023, although it has energy efficiency improvements.
Yep, Steve from Gamers Nexus calls out Intel on this. (yes, it's about that slide I shared before with Intel trying to convince us a 15 year old needs to get a Core i9 laptop for Machine Learning)
