We've been trying other games since the kid just got a PS5 and has PlayStation Plus, some free stuff in there. Dead Cells, kid is pretty good at it. He wasn't a fan of the permadeath, always going back to the start. It's brutal. We also tried Skul. Same deal. Like a mini Dead Cells, kinda. Now, he's playing Rain World. It's pretty rad. He's good at it, I knew he would be. Again, I couldn't handle the controls of it, etc, when I tried. But wow, Rain World is a beautiful game.
I only learned to like Castlevania after I was 40 (when I was a kid I found the original game very difficult). Dead Cells for me is the perfect spiritual successor, even more so with the Return to Castlevania DLC. What an incredible tribute!
Played #DeadCells on my #SteamDeck before bed. It's been a while and I got terrible at it. Even with only one boss cell I had to go into Assist Mode and tone everything down just to make it past the second biome.
On the other hand, I can go back to a #RogueLegacy2 NG+ Thread with nine burdens enabled and never have to touch House Rules.
Both games are similar but Rogue Legacy 2 gives you orders of magnitude more ways to permanently boost yourself. Dead Cells only really has new equipment unlocks after you get all the Runes. Rogue Legacy 2 has an entire tech tree and, even after you get the Heirlooms, you still have lots of armor sets and runes to unlock.
But I can play a quick game of Dead Cells, 15 to 30 minutes. Rogue Legacy is going to cost me an hour at least unless I save and come back later.
If, by some chance, you don't already own #DeadCells, now is a great time to buy it on sale on #Steam. I played it extensively on my #SteamDeck. I especially like the #Castlevania DLC.
#DeadCells is a freaking awesome #game!😁 I’ve been missing out on so much fun! It’s kinda #DarkSouls-like, because you die a lot and start always from the beginning, but it’s less discouraging!🥰
I'd have to go with #DeadCells (my fave indie) #Terraria (1000s of hours, no exaggeration) #HollowKnight (the aesthetic!) #LaMulana 2 (maddening, but I love it) #LittleNightmares 2 (if it counts as indie - not gonna get into the weeds)
Could probably go on for quite a while 😅
