As changes piled up and deploying them is more or less instant I've tagged version 0.12.0 of the Smederee! 😀 🎉
Most noteable changes are base work for organisations and fixes of broken source tarball downloads and incorrect reset password links. For more details see the changelog: https://smeder.ee/~jan0sch/smederee/files/CHANGELOG.md
Just released another version of the Smederee - your friendly darcs forge. 🤩
Your organisations are now shown on your user settings page and they are more easily edited. Also owners can delete organisations now. Adding administrators to an organisation is still on the todo list though. 😉
The biggest issue left is setting up mailing list infrastructure that will work with the service. If anyone has #opensmtpd and #sympa experience, please ping me. 🥰
@tess Darcs has a great UX compared to Git. I really struggled to learn Git after starting with that.
#Darcs can work for personal projects or small teams, but lacks a “GitHub”.
Linus considered it for the Linux kernel, but it doesn’t perform well enough on huge trees.
I used to be a contributor to Darcs I but now use Git exclusively because there’s no getting away from git. Once I mastered #Git it was simpler to just use one tool.
@markstos Ha ha, good find!
Nothing much has changed. Just lately I have been doing some cleanup and discussing ideas for closer integration with the official Darcs infrastructure. No more time spent analysing activity yet; for me sysadmin work like backup testing and a setup script for easier server upgrades/moves has been next priority but you ask a good question.
