This is No. 407, new work for me. This one emerged as a bit of a surprise to me, but when it clicked, I was drawn to the colors here as well as the sense of mystery it brought to me. You can find it here: https://jon-woodhams.pixels.com/featured/no-407-jon-woodhams.html
Very recent work from me, this is No. 305. I have always liked the art of Piet Mondrian, and this is my "with apologies to" tip of the hat and homage to him and his work, in a bright, cheerful color palette. You can find it here: https://jon-woodhams.pixels.com/featured/no-305-jon-woodhams.html
This is No. 330 (subtitle: Farlight), brand-new spiral-based abstract art from me with subtle details that will reveal themselves when viewed a little larger (click to view). You can find it here: https://jon-woodhams.pixels.com/featured/no-330-jon-woodhams.html
The Point Iroquois Light, situated on Lake Superior in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, guides sailors through the narrow channel at the entry of the St. Mary's River. Although replaced by an automatic light in 1971, the lighthouse itself gained recognition in 1975 when it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
This is "Cross My Heart." It's such an obvious title, but I do like it. Floating above a soft aqua background, with sheer veils forming a frame, rainbow-hued ribbons of vibrant color meet and cross, forming a classic heart shape Find it here: https://jon-woodhams.pixels.com/featured/cross-my-heart-jon-woodhams.html
Semi-recent work from me, No. 1011. A rich aqua and a cool white cross the canvas in uneven layers, in broad, sweeping horizonal strokes of thick paint at the top, while the lower part employs rougher, looser strokes with the aqua color peeking through. Wow, driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia was truly breathtaking! We had to screech to a halt (safely!) and pull over when we saw the sun shining through the dark gray clouds, creating spotlights over the valley. It was a surreal sight!
A couple years ago, I loved capturing the natural beauty of light and shadows on the snow along the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia. This unedited photo truly showcases the phenomenal lighting. Check out my gallery for prints and more.
Do you remember swimming underwater as a kid and looking up at the brilliant summer sun filtering in through the water? That's the feeling I get from this earlier work of mine that features rich jewel-toned colors and hints of movement and flickering light.
