Friday night late pick-ups, got an amazing deal! Sneaky peak (more pics to follow):
Have an amazing weekend retro peeps, looks like mine will be! 👍😍🕹️ #retrogames #retrogaming #amiga
Channeling Monty Python and that holo-chess scene from Star Wars, this chess effort had pieces perform animated scraps whenever a piece was taken. It was fun – at first – to see how a rock-monster rook would duff up a bishop. But when the animations were done, this was a quite ordinary chess game. And ‘chess’ + battles had already been done better years earlier by Archon.
unpopular opinion perhaps...but: i never liked the shoddy look of the #amiga workbench prompt image ... did they let the intern design it at the time? doesn't scream "get ready to start up this graphics powerhouse"...
One among the things I love about the #fediverse is the continuous chit-chat about the #Amiga in my timeline, which also includes people going "AMIGAAAAAAAA!!!!" once in a while for no apparent reason
This ambitious game had you take on the role of a deity, aiming to keep their followers alive – and wipe out their rival’s people. Much of the game involved adjusting land to help followers build larger dwellings and strengthen in number. Other powers were rather more destructive, such as floods and volcanoes. Ideally suited to 16-bit micros, Populous remains an atmospheric gem to this day.
OK. After some hacking, RDZ dynamic allocations top out at 51Kb now (and the maps work again). There's maybe ~22Kb of static variables and data according to the compiler, so we MAY already be in MegaDrive 64Kb work RAM territory now but I think the entities need a diet too.
Not bad considering I started with the map alone needing 96Kb :) It uses 11Kb now.
What are your favorite #Amiga games that are not on this list? The Amiga library is so vast, and has so many more great games than than the ones on this Top 1% list of games! #analoguepocket#misterfpga
I do music stuff on and off. I sometimes do stage tech stuff for the glitz, the glamour, the backache and tinnitus. I like retro computing, gigs, beer, comedy. Travel and languages are an aspiration rather than a reality. I occasionally run. Been in IT infrastructure for over 20 years. Almost getting good at it now.
Who else is rocking an #Anbernic#RG35XX handheld console? I've got GarlicOS on mine and I love having access to so many different platforms on tap. And then I thought I can stream it more...
An energetic end-of-game victory chiptune track by our music composer Ramon Braumuller, for the Venom Wing Amiga shoot-'em-up game, published by the British Thalamus in 1990.
The tune was made in our own Amiga music editor called SIDmon, and I made part of the game's graphics. 👾🕹️
:anAmigaBall: #CodeLog 231225 - So I managed to fix placeholder sprites on Amiga today and got the basic game functionality operational, yay! So then I tried to make a custom sprite, but it was invisible again. I guess I should study Amiga palettes and how bitplanes function.
Hard to believe I finally found it after all these years. And, it appears I'm the first one to EVER use the disk in 37 years since the day it was made, which makes no sense to me at all. (!!!)
Carl Svensson shared his thoughts on the innovations and impact of Deluxe Paint, both on him and the software industry.
As an Amiga user back then I would have loved to check out the program. But my complete lack of artistic talent wouldn't have justified even the almost affordable price.
Moar #Amiga videos are in the making. Sorry for the delay, I‘m watching after 3 cats and a teenager for a couple of days and am #OutofOffice (or rather, away from my lab) most of the time. "Stay tuned"! 🙃
