For all #WSPR operators in the Midwest, keep an ear out for DL0WH on 40m. @quantensalat is a physics teacher who built a WSPR station with his class. It would be so awesome for the kids to hear reception reports from real live people.
Tune to 40m overnight, and let’s see if we can give them reports!
@sergio_101 Feels like this is as far as we're going to get tonight, but it ain't over till the fat lady sings ;) let's see what tomorrow night brings with optimized equipment
@sergio_101 Yeah, tantalizingly close! I have a larger IRF510 based teacher-built amp to hook up to the project, I might test it and if it performs next week. For tonight, I wound a 3:2 transformer for better impedance matching. It increased the stability of the amplifier, whether it does something for field strength or os even detrimental, we'll see tonight.
@sergio_101 In theory it can be 1W but the amplifier still has stability issues and antenna matching issued (it is resonant but at 18 ohms), so we probably have significantly less
@sergio_101 Oh well, doing the next round with a modification to the output stage that's supposed to match the antenna better, of which I'm not sure if it is helpful
