For example, maintaining a software project might be to just develop and patch when bugs are found, and release those changes. So it turns out, the maintenance part could as well be a fairly small role, alongside a whole slew of those you have listed there. bagder, 30 days ago @levitte sure, everyone is free to opt to only do one or a few of those items I list, but I'm pretty sure lots of maintainers would agree that it can involve all those things I list. Then of course all projects and maintainers are different. "We are all different" as Brian would say.

gi124, 30 days ago @bagder question: how do u support yourself? do u have a day job? or do u raise enough through donations from curl and other projects. also thanks for your work on curl. I stubbornly used wget for the longest time ... until I realized that sometimes u just need curl
