So apparently Apple approved a knock-off of GBA4iOS — the predecessor to @delta I made in high school — in the App Store. I did not give anyone permission to do this, yet it’s now sitting at the top of the charts (despite being filled with ads + tracking)
I’ve bit my tongue a bunch in the past month…but this really frustrates me. So glad App Review exists to protect consumers from scams and rip-offs like this 🙄
I’m pissed that Apple took the time to change the App Store rules to allow emulators, and then approved a knock-off of my own app — even though I’ve been ready to launch @altstore with Delta since March 5
@rileytestut@altstore so you are upset that apple approved an app that you had no plans to launch on their App Store? I don’t understand the gripe against apple but not the developer. Seems like theirs a hidden agenda here.

Also seems like Apple wants to make the life of anyone wanting to establish an alternative store as hard as possible, who could've thought
@Joekw@rileytestut@altstore yeah, Apple’s go, but what’s their argument? Simply ignoring it? Or are we missing like an iOS update that enables the feature in the first place?
@rileytestut@altstore I mean, don’t get me wrong. I understand the frustration and it’s blatantly scummy of Apple to do this considering it’s a flat out knockoff. (I downloaded it to see and it’s insane. It feels shady just opening it).
But, why not submit Delta to the App Store?? You’ve been asked this a million times and haven’t confirmed as to why. I understand why it’s on AltStore but it’s for EU users only. Have you not considered submitting this to the App Store at all?

The fact they didn’t even bother to change the references to GBA4iOS in the internal files is just bizarre, i would think apple would check for references in terms of plagiarism, but this is just lazy on their part
@rileytestut@delta it’s sitting at the top of the charts in… Developer? This App approval process is more sus every day. You have the right to be pissed. Shame Apple seems to have removed the ability to report a problem.
@rileytestut@delta This is a perfect example of how App Review totally just sucks. You’ve been THEE proponent FOR Alt App Stores, let alone Emulator apps, and to approve a knock off of your app before you’re even approved to have an Alt App Store is completely and utterly 70’s bad sitcom funny. We all saw it coming, and hopefully there’s at least one publication that will write up more about it.
@rileytestut@delta Just another example of how Apple’s portrayal of the App Store doesn’t match reality. If the App Store hadn’t gotten this bad over the years, I probably would not be as enthusiastic about the legal efforts to break their monopoly.
