@penfount not really a live-hate relationship, it's just simple hate. I hate my TWSBI Eco. I don't like it's medium nib. It's too rigid and too narrow. It's quite unpleasant to use. And, to make it worse, it cracked while stored in a drawer without any significant use. The best thing I can say about that pen is that it's a shame that the plastic wasn't used to make something useful.
@penfount My Conklin All American with the Omniflex nib. I don't know what it is about this specific nib, but no other flex gives me writing quite like it. So it's a real shame that I constantly have to re-prime the nib every few words, even with extremely wet & well lubricated inks. It's so frustrating to write with, but the writing looks great.
@toga@penfount was basically going to say the same thing. I put one of the Goulet steel flex on it and it’s slightly better. I wonder if it’s got something to do with the feeds? I replaced that too and still the same.
@inkycicada@toga@penfount I have rehomed all my Conklin pens except for one. That one has a stub nib. It’s not too bad, but it will prob get rehomed too
@Archergal@inkycicada@toga yeah, the feeds on the Conklins are made in-house for some reason, and badly. I don’t understand why they didn’t just switch to JoWo units when they switched to JoWo nibs. You’d think something like plastic feeds would be the first thing they would outsource.
@Archergal@paradoxmo@inkycicada@toga I might have to look into this. I have a Conklin pen (two actually) that I love the weight and feel of. But they don't write for shit. It's so scratchy and uneven ink.
@MsHearthWitch@Archergal@inkycicada@toga yeah, it’s an expensive upgrade for a pen that didn’t really work in the first place, but the FNF products are very solid. I’ve used 4 or 5 things from them and they’ve been great.
