Up for listening today (as much as I can before switching it), some of which I've never heard all the way through (or tried to listen all the way through):

-Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited
-John Mayall - The Turning Point
-Kraftwerk - Radio Activity
-Laibach (Opus Dei, NATO, Spectre, Laibach Revisited)
-T. Rex - The Slider

@jake4480 I know of Laiback, but I don't think I've ever listened to them. Maybe a Qobuz deep-dive is in order. The Dylan is a must, but I'm still not a huge fan. 'Blood on the Tracks' and 'Blonde on Blonde' are a couple of others, too. I have a bunch of John Mayall, but I don't think I've heard that one. Noted. T. Rex, of course, is awesome... ;>)

@wendigo ha! Okay, first thoughts - I love Dylan but hadn't heard this all the way through? Dig it. John Mayall is ok, bluesy, too slow for me probably but ok. T. Rex is kinda good but I prefer Bang a Gong or something, the songs on The Slider I wasn't feeling. The SOUND is great though. Laibach are incredibly weird and amazing. So many styles. Life is Life is great - their covers are amazing, Beatles, a lot more... I've heard a bunch but the ones I'm settling on of theirs are and going through more today are

NATO from 1994
WAT from 2003
Spectre from 2014
Sketches of the Red Districts and Love is Still Alive (both from last year).

Geburt einer Nation (the Queen cover) is on their 1987 one Opus Dei which some people like, not too much on there that strikes me other than that. Laibach are a mixed bag and they have TONS of albums haha

@jake4480 Man do I have #opinions about Kraftwerk

@bendaubney one of my NEW opinions about Kraftwerk is that their instrumentals are better than the ones with vocals. So far, I love Metall auf Metall & Spacelab (and the rest of the instrumentals on The Man-Machine) more than anything else of theirs I've heard yet

@bendaubney ha! So Radio Activity has some interesting stuff- I mostly know Pocket Calculator from that video. I'm currently in Laibach land but after that, I'm gonna check out Trans-Europa, Man-Machine, Autobahn, Computer World, or at least what I can from them. Likely won't be able to listen to any of them fully but I'm psyched to see what I find haha. Are you a fan?

@jake4480 I am a fan! But… I’m not so keen on the original albums. They sound a bit thin in the main. A few years ago they released a sort-of live boxset which contains every album and I much prefer those mixes. Computerworld in particular is a revelation.

@bendaubney oh wowww okay I NEED to hear this because you're right - they could be beefier!

@jake4480 Interesting mix!

@kevin very haha. So, I already love Bob, a ton of his stuff, but not sure I've heard this whole album, and the copy I have is crappy so I need a new one. Blips and cracks. Ha! SO good though. John Mayall, I bounced off of. Sounds good, but the slow blues thing isn't for me. A little of the Kraftwerk and I'm onto a couple others of theirs, deep dives, I've heard mostly Pocket Calculator and a couple others haha. Laibach I do love but haven't heard these fully, I don't think.. and T. Rex I love the hit(s?) ha but never done a full one.

And these were all inspired by this article I saw, these are all Laibach's biggest inspirations before the band started. 😂

@jake4480 Laibach's influences? Even beter

jake4480,
@jake4480@c.im avatar

@kevin right?? I had no idea, other than the Beatles obviously - and I guess I should've guessed Kraftwerk haha. But the article was wild, it was talking about how they'd get the stuff back then in the 60s and 70s into those countries, it wasn't always easy but eventually stuff was everywhere (also, Stones, Hendrix etc were on the list)

WoodooProd,

@jake4480 @kevin

"Blips and cracks".. are part of the experience!! 🖖 😂

@WoodooProd @kevin well usually, if it was from the vinyl, I love that, but this is like, the files being damaged? It's this harsh, awful noise haha
