A native Floridian, I am fascinated by all forms of musical expression, but I cut my teeth on heavy metal. My first five shows were Dio, Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeth, and Exodus. I am an avid progger and free / classical jazz man, too. I welcome and encourage discussion.

While I'd say I am political, I make it a point to discuss such things on my blog, which I'll be setting up shortly.

I am a music gear nerd and Linux expert, questions are always welcome.

@cory Sometimes I've noticed that some software or Last.fm (someone) are counting track plays more than once per session (when they shouldn't be). I noticed that it used to happen with Roon somewhat, yet I don't think it was their issue...

@cory Yeah, I use several programs sometimes, and I don't know what the criteria is for each one unfortunately. At any rate, there are other plugins for services like the Musicbrainz scrobbler.

@jake4480 Can't say that I do too much. It seemed contrived. And wee Anikan, too. Was Lucas making a kids movie or what? Not to blast your enjoyment of the film. I just like stories that are a bit more serious. Although, Darth Maul was cool. And Senator Palpatine's plot was very cynical...

I've worked at two different recycling facilities. The US is #1 at paper recycling. However, my point is that you can't recycle plastic. You can't. If someone says so, they're talking bullshit. Coca Cola might be able to do it if they're only using their plastic in house, but you can't do it nationally or globally because the chemical composition of plastic is different based on the use and manufacturer. It's all bullshit...

Lots of dumpster divers at the Winn Dixie. I see them every day because I'm up very early. I'm fine with homeless people. It's gross, but you have to get by somehow. What I'm not fine with are the douches in their retro-rides and nice clothes showing up to grab a free ham because they're too cheap to buy it, and they always see me and offer excuses. Fuck them. What should happen is that Winn Dixie should be donating their "waste" / food to homeless shelters and off-market stores...

Happy 23rd anniversary to Weezer's green album, released today (May 15) in 2001. Man, did I listen to this album a lot, and I still can. Might be my favorite Weezer record but I hate the last song - luckily it's last and I can just turn it off when it comes on. 😂

I remember following along online as they were making it, they were posting updates. Some great unreleased/b-side stuff from this era, too.

@jake4480 @Tijn OK, so I'm going to address a couple of things here. I grew up in the heyday of the album, so I tend to think in those terms. Secondly, like Michael Stipe, I tend to think of vocals as a musical instrument, so I'm not hanging on words or lyrics. That's one reason why I can love death metal so much...

Wifey KILLED this gift for a friend - she seriously did this in like 3 hours last night. Doesn't even come across in the pic how cool this is, she painted (and brought real magic to) my sketch. Has a resin coating over him, and his suit shines.

Is the word made up? What could be the meaning of it?

@thomas Seems to me that it might be from a novel or something like that. It's not ringing any bells for me, though. But I would suggest it means something like 'denizens of the void'...

One time I asked a guy working in the produce section of a supermarket what his favorite apples were, and he said 'Pink Lady'. After buying some that day, I have to admit he was right. They're the best damn apples I've ever tasted and I've been hooked ever since 🍎

As always, apologies to those who don't like gross death metal (keep scrolling!) but for those who DO like gross death metal, I somehow missed this LP from GORUPTED (a one man band/project from France) last year. No idea how.

This might've made my favorite albums list from last year, had I heard it. It's THAT good of gross death metal.
