So earlier today I posted that I wake up to more spam I had to deal with. I use the FediBlock tag, which probably helps shouldn’t have but oh well. Anyway, I get replies from people blasting me for spamming the hashtag. Now I’ve had a busy day so I couldn’t get to the replies and reply back so it gets better. They report me to my instance, to which I’m a co-admin of, to which I’ll get the report.
So did they do their research and see who I am and actually just try to (1/3)

Then I'm guilty too. I used the FediBlock tag to discuss spam accounts recently because I think this is one of the tag's purposes. This is how Admins keep each other informed about spam and other misbehaving people.
And, if you are having a spam problem on your server? I sure as heck want to know about it and get insight because what goes around, comes around.
I say continue using the hashtag the way you've been using it. I certainly will.
message me about using that hashtag for notices about accounts that Masto Admins need to defederate from? No, they just go straight to report. 🙄
Another thing that got me was one of them said that I was “causing noise” on that hashtag. I only made one post with it, while they and others were replying to it causing even more noise. I’m a little confused. I even looked at the hashtag and see some other account that have used the hashtag in similar posts and they weren’t blasted.
@beardedtechguy I believe the point here is, those that were bitching and complaining about Kyle making "too much noise" by using that specific hashtag were making more noise than Kyle himself by bitching about Kyle using the hashtag.
I don't see what's so hard about asking nicely and moving on. But some people just want to find any reason at all to bitch and complain and be toxic.
Also, reporting someone for using a hashtag? COME ON NOW! That's excessive, dramatic and just toxic.
