I don't usually touch WordPress, but wife has hit big problem with their new (all-JS) backend, Calypso.
Due to some browser issue some JS chunks not loading, so she gets the White Page of Death of a blank page (slow hand clap for the React developers out there).
Current workaround (she's stuck on Edge/windows for reasons) is make a Private Window which seems to work for now.
@mahryekuh I mean, it's weird in the sense that some random browser issue (my hunch is some over-zealous Edge or Windows protection software) is blocking some JS from loading.
What is not weird is React propellerheads re-writing a platform that thousands depend on with their fragile Jenga tower architecture that leaves a user with nothing but a blank screen instead of degrading gracefully.
@danjac It's odd that the problem disappears in private mode, which suggests something to do with existing session/cookie data, or a browser extension going wild.
React not handling the situation gracefully is... typical.
@mahryekuh yeah my first hunch was to delete all cookies and session/local storage and disable extensions. No dice, the only workaround was private browsing mode.
@mahryekuh I agree, my hunch is that it's some Edge or Windows (or MCAfee or whatever antivirus) blocking some JS. She can access the backend fine on other devices and browsers.
@mahryekuh@danjac Open the website with developer tools opened (F11 probably) and look at the console. That usually gives some indication of what's going wrong.
