Dying to know the capacity of the Apple Vision Pro battery. In MKBHD's video he lists 3166 mAh on the back. I'm really curious what the Volts are, because if it's ~4V like the iPad that would be very small (12 Wh) so I doubt it

For reference the 12.9” iPad has a ~ 10000 mAh battery at 4V for a total of 40 Wh, so if the Vision Pro battery is around that, that would put it at 12V or so. That would be awesome because you could then triple your battery life with a normal 100 Wh external battery

@christianselig Thinking logically - Vision Pro probably consumes more power than MacBook Air. That seems logical: "bigger" screen, an R1 coprocessor with unknown TDP, full M2 and entirety of a computer.

So I would guess that battery would have more or less parameters of a laptop battery at 11-12V

@christianselig Here’s what I saw in MKBHD’s post-unboxing video.

@siracusa Ah that’s pretty good! Will be easy to add a bunch of extra hours by daisy chaining the same kinda external battery you’d use for a MacBook

@christianselig @siracusa OR you could find an adapter for the "fat" plug->USB-C that goes into the battery. Did you see that article yesterday about the wire going into the battery pack being removable with a SIM tool? Someone is gonna reverse-engineer THAT sucker!

@christianselig @siracusa yeah you only need to hot swap your extra battery if you’re on a long flight. The main battery is the backup.

@siracusa @christianselig

Not sure if people have mentioned AVP 2 hr battery life as an intention to get people from wearing it too long, forcing a break, but I’m certain some have thought it.

@christianselig @Migueldeicaza I just need UPS to show up and then all the magic is revealed…

fencepost,

@christianselig lithium polymer cells are all 3.7v and the Vision Pro shouldn't really draw that much more than an iPhone at load, so a battery capacity in that range seems not unreasonable.

@fencepost Individual packs, sure, but they’re often wired in series. The MacBook's lithium pack is around 12V, for instance
