I wish people would stop
casually spouting anti-China things at me when I talk about China. (And I talk about it a lot cos I love #CDramas). Although I am not a CCP fan, I am STILL CHINESE and it sometimes feels freaking Sinophobic and hurts, OK?
You complain so much about Nazis but are OK with painting Chinese people in a bad light (namely they are brainwashed, have no agency etc).
Like, stop already.

@liztai here in germany, it's also common that people reply with some variation of "producers of cheap products and/or bad quality" when you bring up products from china.
GUYS, GUESS WHERE YOUR FANCY PHONES WERE PRODUCED?! HINT: IT WASN'T "MADE IN GERMANY".
@liztai We had a very solid solar panel industry in germany 20 years ago. Our pro-coal politicians basically destroyed that whole sector. Now pretty much every solar panel is made in china (I'm not complaining about that last part, but I'm complaining about that first part A LOT).
@claudius that's so sad. We let our capitalist desires overrule what is needed for the world right now. China is making interesting leaps in green tech, which includes powering electric cards with roads! Thats insane. I am sad so many countries are not doing more top them, hinestly! Cos it will benefit the world in the end.
@Havoc_online Yeah, it's a big pity, but I guess China doesn't care if people know. :) The only reason why I know is because I used to be a world news editor and had to read through pubs like Xin Hua and China Daily (together with the usual suspects Reuters and AP), and was amazed at what they were doing. @claudius
@jackyan sometimes I wonder why I, as one of the Chinese diaspora feel this way. I think since a big part of my identity comes from China, I can't help but feel upset a part of my heritage is considered "bad".
@liztai So much of it stems from ignorance. I’ve even seen it in forums where I’ve participated, people forget I had commented, and still dis Chinese people. I might be HK Chinese but I’m still Chinese. One time I added, ‘I’m still here, folks,’ and only a couple of people apologized.
@jackyan yeah been through the same thing. They just parrot whatever they read in the media, which is often distorted. I know China has problems, but a lot of what's said in the media is often bad, bad, bad. Never do they mention the good things such as lifting millions out of poverty etc. It's like they forget that their country is not spotless and have tonnes of problems too. 😒
@liztai People like that like to ignore their own problems because their own racism or superiority complex indulges in Schadenfreude. And they really hate it when you point out the equivalent issue in their own society (the origins of the racist taunt, ‘Why don’t you go back to where you came from?’).
They also offer their criticisms while typing on a Chinese-made keyboard that is hooked up to a Chinese-made computer.
