One month without a drink. Dang, that was hard… especially at Christmas parties.

@outofcontrol good for you!

@emd Thank you Erin. A journey.

@outofcontrol I just started a no booze no sugar january to break some bad habits.

This stuff is hard.

@emd It sure is! Two at once, you’re a crazy man! 🤪

@outofcontrol not that crazy, booze will be easy for me, sugar super hard.

@emd Natural sugars too? From fruit and the likes?

I tend to drink a fair amount, and this is a first time, a bit forced upon me for health reasons. All good in the end though.

@emd @outofcontrol Also doing Dry January. Helps my diet, too. So win win 😅 Found out that good alcohol free beer is really nice.

Using too much sugar while cooking, so that would be a hard one.

@denniskoch @emd Any recommendations on alcohol free beer? A neighbour who is off alcohol for high blood pressure gave me a couple of corona which are 0.0%. My health currently won’t allow the 0.5% variants. I love strong hoppy flavours and stouts (ie Guinness)

@outofcontrol I doubt you will find them in Canada because they are both German brands. I like the Rothaus Tannenzäpfle (https://www.rothaus.de/biere/tannenzaepfle-alkoholfrei) and the Störtebeker Atlantik Ale (https://www.stoertebeker.com/stoertebeker-atlantik-ale-alkoholfrei.html). They both claim < 0.5% on their website. I think I've never seen some that claim 0.0%.

@denniskoch We have a pretty SAQ here, and they will order items if we ask. SAQ is Quebec’s liquor stores.

@outofcontrol Sounds good. The first one is a Pilsner but a bit more hoppy than other alcohol free beers, because they extract the alcohol afterwards instead of shorter brewing.
The second one I just tasted once in a restaurant. Not my everyday beer, since I am a Pilsner drinker, but because it is an Ale it was "more special" than other alcohol free beers.
