"The Saudi Arabia of ." If that sounds like an exaggeration, consider that the DOE estimates there is enough lithium beneath the Salton Sea to provide batteries for more than 375 million electric vehicles (EVs).

I still hope they recycle the lithium from spent batteries.

@CelloMomOnCars the area around the Salton Sea is already dangerously polluted, one can only imagine what a lithium mine will add to the mix.
Like you say, recycling lithium should be preferable to ripping it out of the Earth.
