@MaggieCi Going to be super basic here for non-american readers too: I am less worried about this one mainly because Trump has made many claims in many ways that he is immune to the law all of which have been shot down. But each time goes through the appeals chain by itself which takes time. Clearly delaying is Trump's goal (he wants to delay until 2025 to self pardon himself)
I think it is more likely they are doing this to short circuit further appeals all at once. At least I hope so.
The American Scheme on full display. Worst case scenario however they decide will be as in Bush v Gore where they say this is our decision but it's not a precedent and only applies to this case. In other words it depends on the crime and who does the criming and how many lawyers you can afford.
