they travel around our place ever year and this fall the big bloom came up in the place under the trees where my kid spends most of her outdoor time, amongst her stick hoard, feels v auspicious
FWIW, unless we're talking about babies or toddlers who are licking their hands, they're not actually dangerous to touch. (I understand why people tend to go with extra precautions, especially with kids, but just as an FYI!)
But we always go through a whole multi-step ID process before eating the only local mushrooms we actually eat—chanterelles—just to establish good habits.
