@jeffjarvis A lot of the "AI hypecycle" has to do with what's next when outsourcing has run it's course? The thing that's percieved to be cheaper than a person in India is a machine. Once online, no breaks, days off, sickness.
I work in IT Automation, at least 80% of what is called AI is just decision trees with enough sample data to be decent. Those take a lot of care and feeding, as the smallest change blows it up.
