Wow. How entitled do you have to be to keep arguing to a court that you are too busy to testify midweek because of childcare when a) your husband, the other parent of your child, is on the scene and b) you have plenty of money for a sitter and c) probably have a nanny? Ivanka, like her father, clearly thinks legal obligations are for other people. Appellate court didn’t buy it. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/nov/03/ivanka-trump-must-testify-trump-organization-fraud

The uniform defense is “the accountants did it.”

How likely will this pass-the-buck push guilty CFO Allen Weisselberg into changing his story?

“The little people”

The family turns my stomach but not as much as news organizations that chose clicks and views over due diligence in 2015 …. And have seemingly learned not one damn thing.

@heidilifeldman This is the question that exposes the basic philosophy behind their entire world view, a complete lack of interest in examining others' points of view.

It's simply impossible that other people have ever been asked to defer other responsibilities, like work or taking care of kids, to appear in court. She literally can't imagine a situation like that, as nothing has ever been required of her, so it's therefore unfair.

@heidilifeldman Don’t say “nanny”. It’s… “governess”. 😜

IANAL, but I have the impression that idiotic legal motions like this one do not necessarily indicate the client and attorney are clueless nitwits [1]; but rather, the attorney often has nothing better to work with, and the client is, by extension, totally screwed.

[1] Although with the kids, that’s the way to bet.

If you can't do the time (in court) don't do the crime.
