People of Mastodon, as you might have heard, #Eurovision takes place this Saturday.
Now normally I don't really care about that, but somehow I ended up in a situation where I have to watch it. Thank you @satsuma, @Kitty and my wife 😜
There are two options now: filter out #Mastovision and live your life, or join in #Mastovision and have some fun (or regrets) with us!
There might even be our own voting, who knows. Everything is possible!

Some think it is to do with the camp spectacle, but this country produced Priscilla Queen of the Desert and nurtured AC/DC.
It began with the European diasporas in Australia. Especially pre-Internet, Eurovision was a key cultural connection (and still is for many).
That's why SBS has the rights and not the bigger ABC.
It spread to the general public for a number of reasons. For some it is the campness and the novelty. For others, it is a gateway to European music markets and cultures. The longstanding LGBT+ links can also be a draw.
