if i was halfway functional i would actually design this document but slapping some clipart down and drawing a grid is the best i can do for ya logo-wise rn

oh baby a scholarly work with dark mode, what is this 2035????

I make a humble argument and that is that a) we can self publish and b) self publishing can actually be better than the mountain of horseshit that is journal web tech. it is what the internet was invented to do after all

I like the little eye up in the corner from the hypothes.is overlay, it's like the cute baby sibling to scary big brother

@jonny have you published this with a link, maybe? (I'm not commenting on the dark mode, just following along...)

dmitri,

@jonny Hot damn, that looks like an awesome paper. (Also, @csarven -- looks to be right up your alley!)

@dmitri
@csarven
thank you!!! and oh dang Sarven is on here? I have been meaning to reach out, this paper is an extension of a section of a paper that I call the spiritual cousin of "linked research on the decentralized web"

Appreciate ack/kind words. May be misinterpreting implementation/documentation/intention re "manually manage the semantic markup". That'd be counter to why dokieli exists. UI allows eg (not a complete list):

  • contextual relations
  • statistical data
  • document-level article/annotations: editors/authors/license/language/status.
  • actions: annotations/citations/modified/citedby/version/memento/derivedfrom/timemap/robustlinks/inbox/annotationService for an article/annotation

@csarven
@dmitri
that statement was a bit careless I think, my apologies. I was more talking about academics general unwillingness to do things like that (eg. some are even unwilling to even use markdown) and thinking about other interfaces that might make it "blend into the background." I personally really like dokieli and have wondered why it isn't more widely used
