My latest step in moving as much of my tech to #OpenSource software as possible was switching from Paprika Recipe Manager to Broccoli on #fdroid. I tried to import the recipes from Paprika's HTML export that I hosted on Github Pages, but it didn't work. Spent 2 hours manually importing about 100 recipes I've collected over the years.
@pixel
Yeah I 'm terrified of the day I try to do CNC machining on Linux. Apparently the solution for CAD and G-Code generation has a really steep learning curve.
@bass tbh at that point i'd save myself the headache and use closed-source tools until its a problem in my production pipeline or a good enough open source option comes along. I don't want something to stand between me and the thing I want to do yk shit gets hella complicated
@bass I'm always interested in alternatives to Paprika (although I do very much enjoy, prefer, and use Paprika for nearly 10 years now). Is there additional information to help me locate this option? I'd love to see how it compares!
It's definitely not feature-complete when compared to Paprika. No grocery lists, cloud sync, or meal planning.
It can import recipes from websites, but it fails sometimes or includes HTML tags.
Two unique features it has is a cooking mode to display recipe steps in chunks while you work and automatic tags on recipes with ingredients that are in season.
