worst part about janthir wilds giving everyone land spears is the fact that spears are a decade behind in the skins department so everyone's characters are gonna look lame as shit for a while LOL

@pixel@urusai.social avatar

man, other than riot games (because vanguard is invasive as fuck) it's actually kind of astounding how well most games run on linux nowadays. I just booted up hearthstone to play some battlegrounds and it feels basically native. absolutely wild

i hate being in a holding pattern with all the games i enjoy

i love video games but video games are so boring to me right now

@alice_i_cecile god this is so real

I need more Hades 2 like, biblically

is anyone else on the fediverse excited for by the way? im really looking forward to it but i dont really have many people to talk to about it so i've mostly just been yelling in the general direction of my friends hoping any of them want to play it with me

pixel,
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

@neatchee @bluecaller having played the cbt2, I don't think that's a fair criticism. It has its shortfalls but it seems like they've addressed a lot of the pain points.

What matters to me, as a lifelong fighting game player and action game enjoyer, is the combat is absolutely excellent. Like, pristine to a level I was shocked by. The systems around that core gameplay can be improved, but the base is so strong.

its funny that installing linux has made me like, excited to use my laptop again

like its fun to have my desktop for gaming but it's also fun to have a computer i can just sorta like. do whatever on and make it mine

now to find resources to like, learn about linux properly. i wanna learn something from my time using it

pixel,
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

taking notes on good resources on how to learn about the ins and outs of linux, how to use its terminal, how to navigate it, etc. i just wanna get back to boosting my like, tech literacy

@pixel@urusai.social avatar

@vappster IM FREEEEEE

now to see how long it takes until my next conniption lmao

The Villain Edit: Dissecting how Oshi no Ko evokes real-life tragedy in its depictions of harassment and reality TV culture

#oshinoko evokes a real woman's death with good intentions, but it's still worth asking if the story's execution did more harm than good

https://www.animefeminist.com/the-villain-edit-oshi-no-ko-reality-tv/

pixel,
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

@animefeminist as someone that went through something very similar to what akane kurokawa went through, that moment was profoundly triggering for me

But I don't want coverage of that to not be upsetting. It hurt me, but as much as it hurt I think authentically reflecting that hurt is important to victims of online harassment, as well as it being critical to the stories and experiences oshi no ko is written around.

:neocat: What are you playing rn?
:neofox__w: New gacha
:neocat: Still playing gachas huh? What keeps you invested?
:neofox__w: The ability to skip most of the dialogue and fights.
:neocat: Skip? Most of the game? Do you even like these games?
:neofox__w: Oh yes immensely. I just can't be bothered with the vast majority of the content.
:neocat: You just wanna look at pretty 2d dolls huh?
:neofox__w: Yes. That is all I want.

pixel,
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

@neatchee @bluecaller or at that point just google "pretty anime girls" and download the ones you want

(or use mudae in a discord server with friends to collect pngs of your already-fav anime characters and sidestep gacha business practices entirely)

ive been using gnome for a day and already someone has tried to gatekeep me about it

linux community :)

pixel, to random
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

Not gonna lie part of the reason I didn't want to initially use gnome is that I don't like that the icon is a foot

pixel, to random
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

goddamnit im a puppygirl that uses arch (manjaro)

nothing original under the sun

pixel, to random
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

jesus christ

after switching from KDE to Gnome, I still don't get firefox to focus itself when opening a link from discord.

This is ridiculous

pixel,
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

@neatchee oh my god its apparently "intended" wayland behavior

im gonna lose it

pixel,
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

@neatchee there's something in gnome's just perfection that lets me force that behavior but wow that's awful lol

pixel, to random
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

okay gnome is much better (for me, obviously) than kde

kde is nice but it's so fiddly, gnome with a few extensions is genuinely gorgeous and got to a point where it was doing most of what my windows desktop was doing almost immediately

pixel,
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

@vappster just perfection has meaningfully improved the experience of using linux to the point where i immediately enjoy this more than using my windows desktop. exception there being that i really enjoy compatibility for all the games i play, but having both rules :)

i wish gnome wasn't so locked down out of the box, the "appearance" tab in the settings menu is particularly embarrassing, but I'm loving it otherwise. Feels much smoother than kde, by a lot

pixel,
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

@vappster also, weird funny bug that affected how i customized my desktop

Dash to dock's "use keyboard shortcuts to activate apps" toggle is broken, and doesn't do anything

but dash to panel's isn't, which is INCREDIBLY bizarre

pixel,
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

@vappster weird that it works with dash to panel, though

pixel,
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

@vappster okay do you mind if I pester you to help configure something I really need but am getting a bit out of my depth in terms of setting up? lmao

i want to set up hibernation but i suuuuper dont know enough about linux to be able to do this confidently lmao
